Coronavirus Scotland: Locals spotted between East Lothian and Edinburgh border ‘with a brew’

A couple of locals have found a loophole that allows them to meet for a cup of tea – despite living under different tires.

Under the current coronavirus restrictions in the Lothians, Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian are all at different lockdown levels – with only East and Midlothian having the same rank.

But that does not mean that Edinburgh locals can sneak into East Lothian, and vice versa, because Nicola Sturgeon has brought a travel ban that is illegal for people to travel in or out of their council area unless there are ‘basic reasons’.

Those caught by the rules could face a fine of £ 60, but two creative locals have found a sneaky loophole that allows them to meet up, despite living in different tiers.

A local in East Lothian and Edinburgh meet at the border

The cheeky couple were caught on camera ‘a brew’ by setting a table between the East Lothian and City of Edinburgh border.

Stuart Goldie uploaded the video of the duo on social media, pending: “This is what the world’s come to …. Can not enter districts so we will get two chairs and have a brew on the borderlines.”

In the viral video, the couple can enjoy a tea and a leaf while sitting under the ‘Welcome to Edinburgh’ sign.
