Test drive Honda CR-V / New Time


We try the French updated Japanese Honda CR-V crossover with a turbo engine. Yeah, yes. Honda with Turbo. Yes and 1.5 liters.

Senior Honda fans understand Sarkazam. Cr-V, especially the most popular third and fourth generations in our country, enjoyed the greatest demand with a 2.4 liter natural aspirated engine. It is also a 2-liter version, but its "not known" has been purchased. Eats the same, but at the same time "does not go".

And until recently, the Honda CR-V in Ukraine met mainly with a 2.4 liter engine. And then suddenly, pop, and all.

In the understanding of Honda, Ukraine now belongs not to the Asian, but to the European market. Fluttering, of course, but now the machines are coming to us not the American assembly, but the Japanese – for Europe.

In the end, one can say "goodbye" to an old-fashioned, atmospheric engine with a capacity of 2.4 liters. It's time to get used to the turbo. Moreover, as a large crossover, it is completely ridiculous – 1.5 liters.

Well, at least some of the fans say so. They show that earlier Honda was different from the same Germans in which instead of refining the new mode "refined" as turbines, direct injection, robots and variable drives and proven solutions – good quality "aspired" and classic "automata" . Now, Honda is turning into a Japanese Volkswagen, fans complain.

Are those Old Believers justified?

Let's see what the Turbocharged Kr-V actually is, and the striking contrast to the 2.4-liter version we've been testing for last year.

Honda CR-V – how is it going?

Thus, the 1.5 liter direct injection and turbine engine, power – 193 hp (243 nm), variable speed, intelligent four-wheel drive. And a full set of electronic assistants and security systems under the name Honda Sensing (here and adaptive cruises control, and tracking the traffic lane, and a camera review).

The new CR-V gives the impression of a completely modern device. There is no longer a feeling that this is an old believing machine with an emphasis on the reliability of proven technologies.

Someone might say that this is just great – finally Honda is competing on an equal footing with Volkswagen.

Someone, on the contrary, will complain about the rejection of technologies that have guaranteed the Honda CR-V a place in the ranking of the most reliable and cheap crossover for years.

The turbocharged Honda CR-V with a variant is no worse than the previous generation with a 2.4-liter engine.

Honda engines have always loved high revs. With a turbine, this feeling is only worse. At low speeds, the engine does not pull. But after 2 thousand rev / min is quite a decent traction, and after 3000 rev / min – and considering "pick up" right up to 6000 rev / min.

Given the impeccable work of the Variator, the car can be called quite dynamic. So fear the 1.5-liter Turbo engine is not worth it. It is not inferior to 2.4 liters of aspiration.

The sporting mode (which is present only in many cars) was quite sensible. In the Honda CR-V, it keeps engine speed at a level lower than 3000 – in other words, in the turbine area.

The Honda CR-V suspension also changed. The car has become noticeably softer and quieter. If before Honda is the opposite of Toyota, now Honda CR-V has more compared to RAV4 than any of the "Germans".

But at the same time steering clarity remained at the same level. The crossover is very obscure on the road and is controlled very accurately.

I do not like the work of adaptive travel control. He reacts to changes on the road with a delay and badly.

The collision warning system is also not the most pleasant impression – some chick and nervous.

There are no complaints about the motion sign recognition system, it has been set up perfectly.

Honda CR-V – What Does It Look Like?

If you liked the previous generation of Honda CR-V, you will also be the new model. If only because they look almost identical.

When seen from the side there is no difference at all. Slightly changed the lower part of the bumper – there is air intake for the turbine intercooler. Rear dual exhaust.

The design is stylish and quite interesting. Honda CR-V stands out from the competition. This model has its own face.

Honda CR-V – What is inside?

Inside, the change in comparison with the previous model is just cosmetic. Matt plastic changed in some places too smooth. This is a more elegant but less practical solution.

Most of the time, an adjustable angle was achieved, many would like it.

The cabin is still spacious, with seats wide and comfortable. Three adults will sit quietly behind, and the angle of the back of the back of the sofa can be changed.

The spacious trunk has a nice option to open and close with a touch sensor that reacts to the leg swing under the bumper.

In addition, this feature works in the Honda CR-V flawlessly.

Honda CR-V – What About The Money?

In the Ukrainian market Honda CR-V is available in three levels. In the simplest, there is no skin and Honda sensing, its price starts at $ 37,000. The average grade will cost $ 40,000, and the top one (which we visited on the test) – $ 43,000.

The numbers are very impressive and the competitors for Honda CR-V – only the sea. The most obvious – Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan X-Trail, Subaru Forester, and, of course, the eternal rival – Toyota RAV 4. And I don't mention the Koreans, who are very popular in Ukraine, and the French, Who are constantly gaining momentum in the crossover market.

Probably the most important impression of the acquaintance with the Turbo-Kr-V is a change in the ideology of the model from the old-school Japanese to the advanced "German".

And we have to apply that Honda is pretty good.

In terms of efficiency, a bunch of the 1.5-liter turbo engine and the variator are quite good. My average weekly consumption is 8.7 liters. In the conditions of the consumption of Kuynuchek inexorably stretches to 10 liters and even overcomes. Slow motion control on the road at the limits of the speed allowed by law provides a cost of 7 liters.
