Rabbit and Moscow express need to respect ceasefire in Sahara
It was announced in Rabbit that Morocco will host the Arab World Forum – Russia in 2021.
The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Russia and Morocco reaffirmed the need for “all parties” to the regional conflict over the Moroccan Sahara to respect the cisfire, and to continue their full involvement in the political process. The attitude was expressed during telephone talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
This is the third telephone conversation between the Moroccan and Russian ministers, in less than three months, reflecting the trust and regularity of dialogue and consultation between Morocco and Russia, according to the Moroccan Foreign Ministry statement.

According to the statement, Bourita and Lavrov exchanged views on the upcoming benefits on the bilateral agenda, in particular the forthcoming visit of Bourita in Moscow, to hold the eighth session of the Joint Government Committee between Morocco and Russia, scheduled for 2021, and to Strengthen the political dialogue between the two countries, and Lavrov’s visit to Morocco. In this context, the two ministers noted the recent renewal of the fisheries agreement between Rabbit and Moscow, for a period of four years.
The Moroccan-Russian talks also depended on regional and international issues of common interest, as the Russian minister expressed his appreciation for Morocco’s efforts regarding the Libyan file in light of the Libyan meetings that were held in Boznika. The two ministers stressed the need to enhance the spatiality of international efforts and work for the Libyans to take over the employed efforts.
The statement concluded that Bourita and Lavrov renewed their commitment to continue joint work in Africa to achieve stability and development in the countries of the continent, especially the countries of the Sahel region, in the spirit of the Moroccan-Russian strategic partnership.
