Smart displays of the future should be folded down. Of these, several companies are convinced. Among them is the world's largest smartphone manufacturer: Samsung. The group presented the device with such a folding screen on Wednesday at the SDC18 Developer Conference.

There is really no great detail about the Samsung device. The phone was briefly displayed only at a darker stage and the device remained in an endless shell. It is folded in length, it's vertical.
Phone as tablet
Idea for this: Despite a small design factor, the device must be as big as a mini tablet, thanks to the so-called Infinity-Flex-screen in continuous mode. Mass production is expected to start in the next few months, Samsung promised. The prototype is already displayed, so developers can customize their applications to the new interface.
This should not be a trick: "Initially, the phone can only be a niche, but it will definitely expand. I am convinced that we need a fold-away phone," said Samsung Mobile CEO DJ Koh for Cnet.com last month.

Other manufacturers included
Last week, previously unknown company Royole from California showed the model Flexpai. It's a combination of a tablet PC and a mobile phone that you can fold. This device should cost around 1300 francs and be available from the end of December. Where it's sold, it's still unclear.

Other manufacturers are likely to present similar models next year. Leaker Evan Blass suspects that LG will also be displaying a folding phone at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

Advantages of shaping times
If you are now wondering what to bring such a foldable phone, there are different answers.
