This year, the Vastra galteland area chose to possess a vaccine that protects against four virus strains instead of three as it was in previous years. Since the vaccination started on November 6, much more than usual was selected to vaccinate. A few days ago, the procured vaccine was completed and was replaced by a corresponding vaccine that is currently running out.

"There are many who have been vaccinated, but for those who belong to a risk group and have not done so, there is a risk that the vaccine will not be enough," says Gunilla Okcorn, Deputy Infection Surgeon.

Does this mean that healthy people end the vaccine at the expense of sick people?

– It is for the risk groups that the vaccine was created. It is a vaccine that exists to reduce the risk of a person in a risk group being seriously ill. This is not a problem for the people as a whole. But there can be a problem for people, says Gunilla Okcorn.

Many healthcare centers still have doses at home so that one of the risk groups still has the chance to vaccinate. If you belong to a risk group and would be ill, it is also a help.

– There are medicines that you can do to reduce symptoms if it is introduced early. Then contact your health provider as soon as possible.

"It may be difficult, but it's not about to be exposed to ill people, avoiding large crowds and washing your hands carefully. There is no guarantee, but in any case, you can reduce the risk.

So far, the crude of the year did not come true, or in Gothenburg, the county or the country as a whole.

"But we are also very early at this time," said Gunilla Okcorn.
