Former President and CEO of Agrokor, Ivica Todorić, returned to Croatia on Wednesday night from London, where he was immediately transferred by the judicial authorities to a prison in Zagreb.
Two weeks ago, the High Court of London ruled that there were no barriers to Todorić's extradition to Croatia, where the lawsuit is under way for financial fraud in Agrokor.
"Nothing can stop me, I will go even further into battle," two weeks ago, the former CEO of Agrokor said after the High Court of London confirmed the decision to hand him over to Croatia.
Journalists on Wednesday could not be able to do Todorić because they were constantly protected by Croatian and British police officers. He entered the plane first and left the last one, and then the police immediately transported him to Remetinec detention facility. Todorić is to be heard by investigating magistrates within 24 hours.
Agrokor is alleged to have damaged EUR 1 billion
Todoric is awaiting a hearing before the criminal investigators and the investigating judge, while the detention is ordered because the prosecution has not yet heard all the witnesses. Agrokor, the former owner of Agrokor, who, through the settlement process, passed into the hands of the largest creditors, charges the Croatian prosecution with corruption, fraud and forgery of documents, which Agrokor allegedly harmed by a billion euros.
