What a better way for Xiaomi to announce entry to U.K. like the Mi 8 Pro, a wonderful smartphone with powerful specifications. This is not a semi-circular entrance. The Chinese company also has a wide range of other devices and related products that it will sell online, as well as a leading store located in the busy shopping center in London. However, it will not have an easy drive due to some very strong competition. At the time of writing, we do not know how much the Mi 8 Pro will cost, although based on the Chinese price (a phone that started in September), there could be 400-400 British pounds in the region, the OnePlus 6T, the Samsung Galaxy A9 and the Honor 10 .
We already used the Mi 8 Pro before starting to use, while we have a good picture of what the phone likes, we will retain it to fully review the treatment until the price is confirmed. Until then, there has been an in-depth examination.
That looks good
It's simply impossible to avoid the fact that the Mi 8 Pro looks like the iPhone XS. The front part has a rotated screen, the back side has an offset, a vertically-mounted double-lens camera with a flash in the middle. This is an undesirable facsimile, stored only with a transparent rear panel. It's a genius move, it looks fantastic. No, these are not the actual components that power the phone, but they are genuine transistors and chips. It's a handsome effect, but it's not accurate to say that these are the parts that keep the phone.
Smoked glass looks wonderful, especially since it gradually becomes darker around the curved edges, which give the right shape, depth and style to the device. It's great for hands and it's not difficult. The screen is flat and has a notch at the top, a beard on the bottom and a black board on the side of the screen. Supports iPhone XR.

Despite the 6.21-inch screen, the Mi 8 Pro is surprisingly manageable and slim and light. There is no fingerprint sensor on the back, as it was placed under the phone display. This is becoming more common as OnePlus 6T and Huawei Mate 20 Pro have an objective function. Everyone works the same way – unlock your phone with your finger or thumbs on the right. Unfortunately, they are all similarly unreliable.
The Mi 8 Pro fingerprint sensor is no worse than the rest of the screen, but it's not even better. In a few days, when we used it, we repeatedly registered our press in order to try to improve reliability. One-off printing is more often than not all you need to unlock your phone, but it still takes longer than traditional printing. Unlike the OnePlus 6T and Mate 20 Pro, the Mi 8 Pro does not have a feature to unlock the face to make life easier, despite the closely connected Mi 8 Explorer Edition, which has 3D-sensors on the front.
When asked about fingerprints, the Mi 8 Pro looks stunning, even if it is derived. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a headphone jack, you will not find it, and this has not been sealed enough to get any resistance to water.
Good screen, excellent performance
The Mi 8 Pro has a 6.21-inch OLED board with a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels, a width of 18.7: 9 and a notch at the top. Xiaomi has several display modes and hidden under the settings is the ability to adjust contrast. We found that when it was set to automatic, the screen would be exhausted so little. Turn it to Increased contrast, the difference was exceptional. The videos are alive, the games appear on the screen, and the colors become so electric that we can not stop watching. This is a real stunning.
In this phone, the Snapdragon 845 processor with 8 GB of RAM is a serious combination. We performed some of the criteria to find out how this is done:

We played a selection of games, used the phone for messaging, emails and social networking, and did not find any performance problems at all. It's a fast phone and can easily take over the competition. The results of the benchmark were somewhere near the performance of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and the LG G7 ThinQ; but for the incredibly successful OnePlus 6T (which has the same features).
Camera
Xiaomi is sure to reuse the technology in its range, and the Mi 8 Pro has the same camera with two lenses of 12 megapixels on the back, as we have seen on Mi 8. The main lens has a f / 1.8 aperture and the secondary lens has f / 2.4 hole, plus optical image stabilization and 1.4 micron size. It shoots images in portrait mode with a hook effect, and Xiaomi's artistic intelligentsia recognize scenes and self-confident ways of beauty.
Photos are scored and missed. There is no doubt that he has the ability to make great recordings, but we doubt the software's ability to capture these recordings each time. We did not spend a lot of time with the camera, but the pictures we took were dropped in two camps: completely good or almost useless.
When the camera works well, the pop colors (although slightly over-saturated), and there are some nice details. Plus 2x hybrid magnification is effective. We have seen problems that focus both in portrait mode and in the self-employed camera, which also blurred image blur with active beauty and excessive noise in difficult lighting conditions.
We will test more cameras, and we will also look at software updates that could improve this. We use one of the first Mi 8 Pro devices, so it may not be exactly representative of the final version.
Frustrating software
Android is on the board Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro, but with its own user interface Xiaomi MIUI at the top. This is version 9.6 of MIUI Global, which means that Google Play has all the usual apps and features that you would expect from your Android phone. We like the look of MIUI. It's clean, the icons are well-designed, the menus are not frustrating and are often updated. However, there are some disruptions that stop us from using it – including notifications about Mi 8 Pro.

Drag the shadow to inform, and everything is there. Application icons show all numbers that indicate the amount of notifications waiting, but we miss other options. There are some solutions, but they are not at all user-friendly – for example, it may be necessary for an individual application to be individually enabled to display notifications about the lock screen. Why it is, it is confusing.
Otherwise, MIUI did not pose compatibility issues, and in addition to the extensive Xiaomi software suite – from the link to the Xiaomi Forum to the compass, and the application for screen capture is pre-installed – the bloat is minimal. A pleasant user experience was marked by disturbance notifications and problems with the camera application described above.
Conclusion
The ability for Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro to take on OnePlus 6T and various other competitors depends on the price. The phone is solid with some strong points – a beautiful display, a glamorous look back and excellent performance – but the software frustrates, the battery lasted only a day, with the average usage so far, and the built-in speaker is poor.
Here is a great, probably a great phone waiting to be released here. The right price and a decent software update will deliver it.
