It's no secret that healthy eating is the best prevention against diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, or even cancer.

According to the World Health Organization, malnutrition and a lack of physical activity are currently threatened by the global health threat. It seems that this is not easy – we eat better, will we move and stay healthy, or is it really easy?

In 2016, a study carried out by the Eurostat Statistical Office of the European Union (EU) showed that every sixth European citizen suffers from obesity. This is a serious public health problem, as it significantly increases the risk of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and other diseases.

Meanwhile, a quarter of adults in the world, i.e. approximately 1.4 billion people who do not devote enough time to active physical activity. According to scientists, the lack of physical activity for people as well as smoking, diabetes or heart disease are dangerous and sometimes even more serious consequences. For 20 minutes a day, you need to spend at least some time walking, jogging, swimming or other favorite sports activities.

Some numbers really take care. On 8 November, the European Food Safety Day, European countries are trying to reiterate the importance of a healthy diet for health.

"In the last 20-30 years, there has been a dramatic change in the supply of fast food in Lithuania, or has, for example, increased the diversity of chocolate containing a lot of salt and sugar, and so on. Changes and dietary proteins such as chicken are antibiotics, which causes certain hormonal changes, increase the amount of estrogen, "said Professor KTU at the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU)" Contemporary wellness strategy ", student_2018", expert on healthy living and nutrition, Dr. Artūras Sujeta.

What food is today a good choice?

It seems that the simple answer to the question is what is healthy food. It is a food that supplies the body with the necessary materials: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.

The diet should include several foods that are human health, such as apples, broccoli, walnuts, avocados, usable dried fruits and olive oil.

According to A. Souted, the diet should include more nutrition and sports professionals, scientists using menus that are beneficial to human health, such as apples, broccoli, walnuts, avocados, usable dried fruits, olive oil, etc.

For a healthy diet, it is very important to use enough fiber, so you have to take into account the use of fiber with food. The easiest way to get them is to choose fruit, vegetables or sandwich with all the pieces of bread for snacks.

In the snacks, A. Sujeta recommends: "For example, if you drink coffee with milk and sugar, it is treated by the body as a snack, so it is bite (like the other one), you can not eat a few hours after you make sugarmongalized sugar a quantity of blood" .

Scientists also emphasize that functional foods are a diet that daily eats and which, in addition to nutritional value, have additional physiological effects on the human body. These food products contain functional food ingredients during the production process (active ingredients of such foods can be nutritious fibers, polyhedrons, bran, gastrointestinal tract and many others).

Experts believe that functional food not only preserves optimal human health, but also meets healthy eating habits.

"Functional food is considered food for the 21st century," says Professor Rimantas Petras Venskutonis, professor of food science and technology at the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, KTU at the Faculty of Food Technology KTU.

How to start sports?

"Comparing the situation 100 years ago and now we have reduced movement around 4 times," stresses A. Sujeta. Sporting, physically active, is no less important than healthy eating. It is recommended that adults aged 18 to 64 years should be at least 150 minutes per week for medium intensity aerobic exercise (fast walking, cycling, driving, etc.) For physical activity or at least 75 minutes for intense aerobic physical activity.

A healthy lifestyle expert emphasizes that irrespective of age, a person, a child, an adult or an older person must move for everyone and does not require special conditions.

"There is no excuse not to play for sports; the basic conditions are sufficient, even if a student living in the barracks can go to the yard to escape", A. Sujeta does not doubt and add that the students who say that they are forbidden sports, surprisingly.

According to him, with smaller goals and investments, the desire and determination for sport does not disappear from the first failure of the biggest goals they set themselves.
