NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Adults who sleep only six hours in the evening may be more likely to experience drought, according to a recent study by US researchers at the University of Pennsylvania.

According to Daily Mail, those who sleep less than 6 hours are dehydrated and drink more water.

To validate the results, researchers studied how sleep affected the risk of drought between Americans and Chinese adults.

Researchers have found that the hormone system of the body responsible for preventing drought, where the release of the hormone "vasopressin", which helps to regulate the state of body moisture and lack of sleep, prevents wetting.

"Vasopressin is released more rapidly at the end of the sleep cycle," said lead author Asher Rozinger, professor of health at the University of Pennsylvania.

Drought affects many body systems and functions, including cognition, mood, bodybuilding, etc. Prolonged or chronic drought can cause more serious problems such as an increased risk of urinary tract and kidney stones.
