South Korean electronics company Samsung Electronics has introduced a fold-out screen that allows the smartphone to be converted to a tablet that calls the company the future of portable devices.
On Wednesday, San Francisco Senior Vice President Jastin Denison unveiled a folding prototype of the smartphone, stressing that the company will be ready for the mass production of these displays in the coming months.
Denison did not provide information on when Samsung's folding Samsung smartphone could reach consumers.
"This screen is the backbone of tomorrow's smartphone. When it's open, there's a tablet PC that offers an excellent display experience. When it's closed, there's a phone that can be inserted into your pocket," Denison said.
Earlier this week, California Royole announced that it would offer the world's first commercially available foldable smartphone. The FlexPai smartphone is available for orders with an initial price of $ 1,381 (1,147 euros).
