Medicae has found that in Latvia more than 90,000 people live with diabetes and that this disease affects a large number of families. In addition, diabetic diabetes changes not only the patient, but also for his relatives everyday, which brings many new challenges.

According to Schlemma, the topic of this year's World Diabetes Day is "Diabetes and Family". The president of the LDF said that the association wants to emphasize the key role of the family this year in the treatment, care and prevention of diabetes.

"We encourage everyone to check their health regularly and to identify their risk of diabetes and encourage family members to test them," said Stelmane.

At the celebration of the World Diabetes Day, the LDF will invite people to an informative event at the pavilion for the root threshold of the Central Market in Riga, at 3, the center of K-3, from 14 to 17 weeks, next week, 14 November. During the event, experts will be consulted free of charge to determine cholesterol levels, as well as receiving vouchers for free checking of sugar.

The event will also include endocrinologist and nutrition counseling on the prevention and treatment of diabetes, healthy eating and exercise.

The Latvian Association of Children and Adolescents will then organize an event that will take place on November 17 in the Kalnciems quarter, Kalnciema iela 35 quarter, in Riga from 10 am to 4 pm. During this time there are consultations on nutrition specialists, natural tasting of sweeteners and a creative retro reflective workshop.

As the representative of the Latvian Center for Diabetes Marta Lagzdiņa informed the Latvian Diabetes Center in order to attract more public attention to the spread of diabetes in Latvia and increase people's awareness, the company will launch a social campaign "Stronger for Diabetes" on November 14th.

It is designed as a social experiment in which three personalized individuals – Kristīne Garklava, Magnuss Eriņš and Edgars Bāliņš – will try to "live and match forces" with diabetes in the role of musician, improviser of theater actor Nauris Brikmanis.

According to Lagzndin, participants of the experiment will be able to survive and with their various tasks and tests "enjoy on their skin" the everyday life of diabetic patients, including cases when diabetes is close to each other, is step-by-step, enthuses when the least is expected it significantly impedes human activity and behavior, and sometimes even causes inaccuracies, as well as health and life-threatening moments.

The launch of the campaign will take place on November 14 at 11:00 in the Deep Chemical office of the Communications Management Agency. The event will present statistical data on the prevalence of diabetes in Latvia and provide practical advice for diabetics and peers and experience with patients with diabetes and describe a social experiment.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2001, there were 29,492 people in Latvia, and 91,571 people were already diagnosed in 2017.
