Oder Bercicic, candidate for Mayor of the City of Jerusalem Ofer Berkovic, on Wednesday chastised rival Moshe Leon as one "without public legitimacy", which predicted victory in the second week when the city became a leading city.
Moshe Leon will open on November 13th at the meeting with Ofer Berkovič, when nobody will collect 40% of the support in the October election, which is necessary for victory.
"So we will win, we will win from below, we will defeat bicycle dealers, we will win because the Jerusalemians understand what their politicians may not understand yet," Berkovic said at a press conference.
Referring to a number of agreements Leon signed with Haredi's leaders in Jerusalem in order to obtain his endorsements, Berkovic said he was enjoying the support of Jerusalem. "Everything [Leon’s] voters are one big political agreement and have no public legitimacy to run Jerusalem, "Berkovich said.
Leon has received a certificate of both parties with Shas and Degel Hatorah haredi. Since Haredim is 40% from Jerusalem, it is quite difficult to win elections in the city without the support.
Leon, who entrusted Liberman and Shakespeare Aryeh Derey with great enthusiasm, was rewarded with the assertion that the Defense Minister offered to abandon his opposition to the law, which enabled Yeshiva students to evade the draft IDF in return for Leon's support.
Berkovitch also exploded the military leader of the Jerusalem Jewish House Hagit Moshe to support Leon. "Hagi Moshe is politically and not morally thinking and this partnership, this alliance of religious Zionism with general Zionism," he said.
"If I am elected, I will not only be bitter against religious Zionism, but I see them as allies in preserving the Zionist character of Jerusalem," Berkovich said, pointing out that "probable Zionism may lose the city of Jerusalem, the thing will be remembered for eternity.
Despite reports that the Jewish House will support Berkowicz, Moshe announced last week that the Zionist party will support Leon. Leon was also confirmed by the outgoing Mayor Nir Barkat on Tuesday.
"Since my close acquaintance with two candidates and with my work with the couple, I do not doubt that Moshe Lyon is the best choice for Jerusalem," Barkat said.
