The 49th edition of the International Film Festival in India will open with the world premiere of The Aspern Papers in the presence of international stars and crew members.
Set in Venice in the late 19th century and is based on the eponymous novel by Henry James, The Aspern Papers is a story of obsession, magnificence and dreams of Byron adventures.
The employer representing this film, which will contribute to Goa, will comprise leading actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, the main actress and gold medalist Joely Richardson and nominee actress Julie Robins, alongside actress and daughter Roman Polanski, Morgane Polanski, actor Nicolas Hau and directed by Julien Landais.
In this year's Country Focus segment at the mega film festival, Israel's films will be presented, while the State Focus segment will be dedicated to Jharkhand.
IFFI recognizes the contribution of a filmmaker each year and awards him a lifetime achievement, showing some of his best films. This year, Wolman Day from Israel will receive a prize.
The IFFI 2018, which will be held from 20 to 28 November in Goa, will feature 212 films from over 68 countries that reflect the diversity of taste. The international competition section on this film game includes 15 films, of which three are Indian. This section itself represents films produced and co-produced by 22 countries.
The International Competition Jury consists of John Irvin, Adrian Sitaru, Polish director Robert Glinski, Anna Ferraioli Ravel and Indian filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
In addition, the festival kaleidoscope will distribute 20 critically acclaimed international films, which were at the main film festivals, most of which are prize-winners.
The global panorama section will include 67 films specifically designed for the festival. This part will include four world premiers, two international premieres, 15 prime ministers in Asia and 60 Indian Prime Ministers.
This year, the Global Panorama Department will also present 15 films, which are the Oscars' contributions from individual countries.
Every year IFFI is distinguished by a focus on a country that brings cinema excellence and contributions from a particular country. At the IFFI 2018, the country will focus on Israel. Ten films were selected for this segment in collaboration with the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai.
The open film for the central part of the festival is Avi Nesher's "Other Story". Important celebrities from Israel, including the famous Israeli player Alon Aboutboul, will visit Goo during the festival. The Indonesian co-production seminar is scheduled for November 22.
For the 49th edition of the IFFI 2018, a state emphasis was proposed. This section will focus on the films of one Indian state, extending to the art and culture of each country. Jharkhand was chosen as a country that focuses on this film festival, while Jharkhand's Day is celebrated on November 24th within the festival. The films in the Jharkhand package include "Death in the Gunj", "Ranchi Diaries" and "Begum Jaan", among others.
Sketch on screen – an animation film package – is another section on the IFFI 2018, which shows three international film films that were co-operated with Indian studios.
"Open Movies" are another highlight of this nine-day film festival, in which the big screen is set up in a large open area. This year, as an extension of the Khelo India brand, India's sports biopier will be shown, including Gold, Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, 1983, MSD: The Untold story and Soorma.
IFFI also co-operates with the International Council for Film and Audiovisual Communication in Paris to present the ICFT special prize, which consists of the Unesco Gandhi medal for a film reflecting the ideals promoted by UNESCO.
This year, 10 films will be presented for the selection of the film to be presented with this prize award.
There will be numerous renowned film industry writers in the main class and the discussion section, among them Prasoon Joshi, Dan Wolman, Sreekar Prasad, Anil Kapoor, Sumit Israni, Boney Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Jahnvi Kapoor, David Dhawan, Varun Dhawan, Rohit Dhawan , Jaira, Kaushik Ganguly, Shaji Karun, Srijit Mukherjee, Sridhar Raghavan, Sreeram Raghvan, Anupama Chopra, Rajiv Masand, Bhawana Somaaya, Jason Hafford, Meghna Gulzar, Leena Yadav and Gauri Shinde.
The retrospective of the films of the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Prize is shown during each IFFI. This year, Vinod Khanna received a posthumous award. IFFI will present some of its best films, among them Achanak, Lekin and Amar Akbar Anthony.
The Department of Guards will give presents to the film personalities of our country that died this year. This year, the pension will be paid by Shashi Kapoor, Sridevi, M Karunanidhi and Kalpana Lajmi.
British designer Terence Marsh will be honored in the international profession; Czech-American film director, screenwriter, actor Miloš Forman; and British film editor Anne V Coates, best known as the editor of David's epic film "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962), won by Oscar.
For children who are visually impaired, a special package for visually impaired children / special programs with an audio description will be organized.
In this section, the festival will present the films "Sholay" and "Hichki".
