Paurashpur will run on ZEE5 and ALTBalaji.
A teaser for Poorashpur is out. The show of AltBalaji and ZEE5 is set in the Teichal Kingdom ruled by Annu Kapoor’s Raja Bhadrapratap Singh. While Shilpa Shinde plays Queen Meerawati, the military transgender character of Milind Soman only wants the king to stop discriminating between men and women.
The series also stars Shaheer Sheikh, Anant Joshi, Poulami Das and Sahil Salathia.
Like so much content in altology, Paurashpur has nobility of sex, and the teaser knows that this would be the biggest draw. The show may claim to kill misogyny and sexism, but the nearly naked female bodies on display say otherwise.
We are quite confident with stylized visuals. The makers thought they were shooting classic erotic scenes. They have not quite succeeded, to say the least. Judging by the teaser, this may be a little uneven, but Paurashpur feels a little sleazy.
With its color scheme, capricious tone, costumes and rather extravagant sets, Paurashpur seems needlessly exoticized for Indian audience.
The trailer for Sachindra Vats directorial Paurashpur comes out on December 8th.
