Security forces shot dead two heavily armed militants of the Hizbul Mujahideen who were hiding in a village in Jammu and in the Pulwam district of Kashmir on Saturday.
After receiving information about his presence in the Tekkin village, a cordon and a search operation began, which caused the militants to shoot at forces. Both were killed in this battle.
Poor ultras were identified as Liyaqat Munir Wani, a resident of Below Dargund in Pulwam, and Wajid Ul Islam, a resident of Babhar district in the district, a police spokesman said.
IGP Kashmir, SP Pani said that they belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen.
The spokesman said that both militants were "involved in a series of terrorist attacks on security institutions and many other atrocities against civilians in the area".
"Weapons and ammunition, including AK and INSAS rifles and other incriminating materials, were recovered from the scene. The INSAS gun that was seized from the meeting place was the same as the rifle previously received by terrorists from Murman, Pulwame, "he said.
