We do not know what to do with the stolen data – Market & Profit

Although many have heard of cybercrime involving data and / or identity theft, or has been the victim of that, we seem to be relatively few people aware of the value of the data stolen from us.

According to a new study, conducted by Kaspersky Lab, where more than 7,000 consumers across Europe were questioned, fear of theft of personal data and their use for illegal purposes can be experienced, while pointing out that many are uncertain about the value of their information on how criminals can use them for their own purposes.

Although 59% of Kaspersky Lab's surveys are aware that businesses are looking for their personal information to other clients, 50% of them do not know how much this data is worth for businesses or criminals. Therefore, their attitude to data security is also possible, which makes it easier for criminals to steal and commit crimes.

We are excited about our data when voluntarily surrendered

Two thirds of domestic Internet users are concerned about the security of the data they have, but only about 20 percent of respondents read the privacy statement at the conference.

The insuperable fact is that data that has been roughly stolen and torn off on the dark web, including those that many think is harmless, is unacceptable. Stolen health records (issued between $ 70 and $ 100 for each year of 2016) have lost their goods now because they have so many circuits in the network.

A group of global research and analytical laboratories Kaspersky Lab also carried out further research to assess the scale of the problem. They came to the conclusion that

criminals can sell the entire digital life of a person for $ 50 or less, including data stolen from social media accounts, access to servers and remote computers, and even data related to popular services that can store credit card information.

The researchers also found that the subscription prices of the branch account were lower than the majority. $ 1 and criminals will give you a discount when buying a large series.

As David Jacoby, a senior security researcher at Kaspersky Lab, says, it's surprising, but the total digital life of a person can be sold for less than $ 50. Most 15-35 years old have more than 20 different online services registered, only about 10 of them regularly use, so hackers can simply remain unnoticed and get money from it – says an expert.

Can personal offers and data protection be simultaneous?

Linking online and offline solutions will be the next evolutionary step in digital marketing – the two top Google sales partners in Europe. This approach can create a completely new personal world for the consumer.

Such information is mostly stolen by criminals, mainly by falsifying or exploiting the vulnerability of the online security program. After a successful attack, criminals will receive the so-called "password dump", which includes a combination of email addresses and passwords associated with the most difficult services. And because there are countless people using the same password for multiple services, attackers can access accounts on other platforms as they have information.

An interesting phenomenon is that some data criminals give their customers a life guarantee, which means that if a customer gets a bill, the customer will receive a new account free of charge.

Stolen data: valuable and versatile

Although the value of the stolen data may be limited, they are of course valuable, as they can be used in different ways. This can cause enormous troubles to the victim, as he can lose his money and / or his reputation, requires debt that someone else has collected on his behalf, or even an alleged crime committed by someone else to the victim's identity as a disguised use. Criminals, for example, can use a stolen identity to create a fake passport for a smuggler and may even do several other violations.

This is to prevent data theft

In order to avoid phishing, check the authenticity of the link title and the sender's email address before clicking. An effective security solution will also alert you when you try to visit a phishing website.

To avoid losing data for all your digital identities, never use the same password for different websites or services. If you want to create powerful, secure passwords and do not have to strive for a comment, use a special password management application.
