Researchers want to use lasers to bring foreigners to Earth

Scientists want to build a laser that could lead an overland culture on our planet.

The new research work of the MIT student points out that humanity can build an infrared laser that would be so hot and bright to attract aliens that are intended to colonize on our nearby planets. James Clark, the author of the work, says that this innovation "can be successful".

"It seems difficult, but not impossible," he continues. "The types of lasers and telescopes that are currently being manufactured can produce a detectable signal so that an astronomer of foreign culture can look at our planet and immediately sees something unusual for its spectrum"

A study published in The Astrophysical Journal warns that the probability of contact with current technology is low, but could make progress in the next few years.

The study concludes that a laser with 1 to 2 megawatts, coming from a telescope, a length of at least 100 meters in length for space, can attract the attention of other cultures up to 20,000 light-years from Earth.

Despite the enthusiasm of upgrading such drills there are security problems, said Clark, including the inherent power coming from the laser

But the attempt of this ambitious idea will not harm anyone. Neither "locals" nor "aliens".
