I don't know if it's a result of the game Moving to Unreal Engine 4 or some other subtle tweak for the formula, but machine guns feel much more comfortable than an air-to-air weapon this time around. It's so viable that I often find myself crashing into other planes because I think I'm a hot car car gunner.

I'm crashing into planes, sure. I also crash into cliff walls. So much so, I get rid of earth targets that I often find slamming my darling in the ground. But that's okay, because Mouse combat 7 Has a lot of plains. So many planes. A rather flat tree of plains. As I complete missions, I earn points to spend on expanding the flat tree, unlocking new weapons, vehicles and upgrading parts. For example, increasing missile capacity or tighter turning radius can make all the difference when flying the evil ski. Plus, unloading everything on the expansive tree is an excellent reason to play as a single player campaign and online multiplayer.

I just played a couple of rounds online, I thought, and I'm taming about playing more. Not because I'm not good at it. To the contrary, air combat is absolutely my cup of multiplayer tea. In the rounds I've played I've already had MVP twice. I am a complete bout without dying once. I don't want to let that glory slip away as more skilled fighters take to the skies.

The first mission, aka, some things.

While working my nerve to potentially end my winning streak, there's lots of stuff to do in campaign mode. So far the handful of missions I've run have a nice variety of objectives. The first mission is a simple shoot-all-the-plan deal to get players acclaimed with the flight and combat controls. Then we move on to some ground-based objectives, taking a radar truck to convoy. It is a very cool mission that begins with a tense bit of enemy radar dodging, as Trigger attempts to make it his objective undetected.

These things become really interesting once our pilot falls off grace, and we begin to get missions by the Ocean just to give convicted felons. Like flying unarmed planes to make it seem like a fake airless is a real one. Or being sent to measure enemy ground defenses by being a target for enemy ground defenses. Things get much more exciting once there is nothing left to lose.

The only thing missing for me Mouse Combat 7: Skies unknown So far is a flight stick. My PlayStation 4 Controller works fine, and it's an option for expert controls that give players more control over Yo and Degree. But nothing beats a good flight stick. Unfortunately the only staff I own is for the PC, so I have to wait until that release comes out on February 1st.

Again, not a problem. Ace Combat Is the sort of series one can play again and again, approaching missions from different angles with different loads, and Skies Unknown Is no exception. Not a mission was gone which didn't leave me wondering how it would be I did things differently. Maybe if I flew high and went down to earth targets instead of coming in low. Or if it's loaded up weak rockets capable of targeting multiple enemies instead of slower, more powerful ordinances. Hell, sometimes I just use the Mission Replay's "free flight" option and fly straight through any mission or objective, just for the joy of it.

Mouse Combat 7: Skies unknown Is a joy. There is a triumphant return for a series of years of flying in the wrong direction. Minutes into my first mission, watching the first of many melodic cosmetics, I settled in my chair and smiled, because that's the stuff right here.
