Like Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Works
Back in 1995, Parton launched a monthly book published in her hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee. The purpose is to support a love of reading in all the children's children. Soon, the program began to grow.
"Inspiring kids to love to read my mission," Parton said. "At the beginning, my hope is simply to inspire the children in my home county but here we are today with a worldwide program that gives a month a month to health over one million children.
Today, Parton's Imagination Library has mailed more than 112,000,000 books to kids and families around the world. The organization coordinates book selections and mailing while local partners cover some of the cost of purchasing and shipping the books.
How To Get Free Books For Your Child
Every month from birth to five, the Imagination Library sends a free, personalized book to every child enrolled in the program. There is no income required to participate, but because a local partner organization is required, free books are not available in every community. To find out if your child is eligible for free books, make a search on the Imagination Library website or use the site to find an affiliate in your area.
Once you find your local partner, you can complete a registration form. Some affiliate allow you to register online, but you may have to print the form and mail it in or register in person. After your registration is complete, you should begin to get books.
If there is no Imagination Library program in your community, you can work with the organization to start one.
