Legendary singer Elvis Presley will posthumously pay homage to the US Presidential Medal of Freedom at a ceremony on November 16, announced Contactmusic. The late singer will be great because he "tuned in American culture for millions of fans worldwide" as well as for his service in the US military.
"Elvis joined the gospel, the country, the rhythm and the blues and his sound, sold more than a billion records, Elvis served in the US Army, accepted the call despite his fame, later collaborated in 31 films, recruited a record audience in concerts. He won three Grammy Awards and remains an American icon four decades after his death, "says the White House.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest American civil award. He is awarded "special merits for security or national interests, world peace or culture and other important public or private efforts".
Elvis Presley is only the third musician who received the Medal of Freedom posthumously after his death after Ronald Reagan was honored by Meredith Wilson and County Bays.

The ceremony on 16 November will be celebrated by seven other people, including athletes, supreme court judges and republican sponsors.
